In China, halogen bulbs are used as light sources for traditional integral reflectors surgical light and perforated lamps. Halogen lamps, also known as tungsten halogen bulbs, quartz bulbs, are a variant of incandescent lamps. As a light source for surgical shadowless lamps, its temperature is often higher than incandescent lamps; of course, its brightness and efficiency are also high. At present, some hospitals still choose halogen operating light. However, halogen lamps still have some flaws that need to be perfected, as below:
1. Short lifetime, replacement of light bulbs is frequent, radiation is larger, but the brand is more, the price is confusing and cheap, and the selection is smaller.
2. Halogen operation lamps and metal halide surgical lamps are all typical divergent light sources that emit light in all directions. In order to achieve the special technical requirements for medical surgical shadowless lamps, high-radiation, full-spectrum, divergent light sources must adopt a series of special technologies. For example, in terms of dimming control, the halogen surgery lamp light intensity is adjusted by adjusting the supply voltage, but its light intensity changes will affect its color temperature and color rendering properties.
In recent years, some hospitals have begun to use metal halide lamps as light sources in order to improve the defects in the presence of halogen lamps. It is an ultraviolet lamp developed from a high-pressure mercury lamp, made of high-purity quartz tubing, the quartz tube is filled with iodide containing mercury, argon, helium, iron iodide, and some rare metal halides. Compared with ordinary halogen operation lamps, metal halide shadowless lamps have the advantages of long service life, short exposure time, fast lighting, strong illuminance, and stable operating performance.
